Section 1 — First-Time Setup

Complete these steps immediately after installation before handing to users

Before You StartEnsure the board is connected to a stable network (Wi-Fi 5GHz or Ethernet preferred). Do not skip the firmware update step — many performance issues are caused by outdated firmware.
Initial Power & Firmware Update Required

First BootPower on the display. Allow the Android launcher to fully load before proceeding (30–60 sec).

Check Firmware VersionSettings → About Device → Software Information
Note the current version. Proceed to update if not on latest.

Install All UpdatesSettings → Software Update → Download and Install
Allow updates to complete fully. Board will restart. Do not power off during update.

Set Date, Time & RegionSettings → General → System → Date and Time
Set to Singapore time (GMT+8). Enable Auto date/time if connected to internet.

Name the DeviceSettings → General → System → About Device → Device Name
Set a meaningful name, e.g. "MR-301-Board" so users can identify it when casting.

Section 2 — Display & System Settings

Key settings to eliminate lagginess, slow wake-up, and animation delays

Root Cause of LagMost WAF performance complaints (lag, slow wake, sluggish touch) are caused by animation scales set too high, unnecessary background apps, energy saving mode throttling CPU, and auto-sleep settings conflicting with active sessions.

Enable Developer OptionsSettings → About Device → Software Info
Tap Build Number 7 times rapidly until "Developer mode enabled" appears.

⚡ Power & Wake Settings

Disable Energy SavingSettings → Battery → Power Mode
Set to Optimised (not Power Saving — it throttles CPU causing slowness).

Set Sleep Timer AppropriatelySettings → Display → Screen Timeout
Recommend 30 minutes for meeting rooms. Avoid "Never" — it degrades display lifespan.

Disable Auto OffSettings → General → Power → Auto Off
Set to Off or a period that suits the customer's hours.
🧹 Memory & Storage Optimisation

Do this during initial setup and teach users to run it weekly.

Disable any preloaded apps your customer will never use.

Check Touch SensitivitySettings → Display → Touch Sensitivity
Keep at default unless users report unresponsiveness.

Pen Palm RejectionWhen using the pen, palm rejection is active. Ensure users are not inadvertently resting palm on the screen which can cause touch conflict.

Set Pointer SpeedSettings → General → Mouse & Physical Keyboard → Pointer Speed
Mid-range is recommended.

Section 3 — Network Configuration

Correct network setup is critical for casting, screen sharing, and software updates

Best PracticeUse a wired Ethernet connection for the board wherever possible. If Wi-Fi only, always connect to 5GHz band — 2.4GHz causes most of the lag and dropout complaints seen with casting.
🔌 Ethernet Setup (Recommended)

Connect LAN CablePlug into the RJ45 port on the board. The board auto-detects.

Verify ConnectionSettings → Network → Ethernet
Ensure IP is assigned and speed shows 100Mbps or 1Gbps.

Disable Wi-Fi when on EthernetSettings → Network → Wi-Fi → Off
Prevents interference between interfaces.
📶 Wi-Fi Setup (If Ethernet Not Available)

Connect to 5GHz NetworkSettings → Network → Wi-Fi
Select the 5GHz SSID (usually labelled _5G or _5GHz). Avoid 2.4GHz.

Check Signal StrengthThe board should be within 5–8 metres of the AP for stable casting. Walls reduce signal — request AP placement near meeting room if needed.

Assign a Static IP (Optional but Recommended)Set a DHCP reservation or static IP so the board is always discoverable at the same address.
🔐 Network Ports & Firewall Notes IT Team
Ensure the following are not blocked by corporate firewalls for full functionality:
Casting (Miracast/WiDi): Devices must be on the same subnet/VLAN as the board.
Samsung Remote Management: Allow outbound HTTPS (443) to Samsung DMS cloud.
Software Updates: Allow access to Samsung update servers.
Note: If guest devices on a separate VLAN need to cast, configure VLAN bridging or use USB-C/HDMI cable as fallback.

Laptop and board must be on the same Wi-Fi network or subnet. Miracast uses Wi-Fi Direct — if it fails, try turning Wi-Fi off and back on on the laptop.

🔁 Before / After Each Session

Before: Open Fresh NoteOpen Note app → New → give session a name with date.

Section 6 — Troubleshooting

Quick-fix reference for the most common WAF issues reported by users

Last Resort: Factory ResetIf the board remains unusable after all above steps, perform a factory reset via Settings → General → Reset → Factory Data Reset. Ensure all Note files are exported and backed up first. Contact Kubernex support before proceeding.

Section 7 — Preventive Maintenance Schedule

Recommended routine to keep the board performing well long-term

  • Close all open apps before leaving
  • Export and save whiteboard notes
  • Wipe screen with dry microfibre cloth
  • Return to home screen
  • Allow board to sleep (don't force power off)
Weekly

Every 5–7 Days

  • Run Device Care → Optimise Now
  • Clear storage cache
  • Check for app updates (Galaxy Store)
  • Verify Wi-Fi / network connectivity
  • Full restart of the board
  • Wipe screen with slightly damp (not wet) cloth
Monthly

Once a Month

  • Check firmware update availability
  • Review and disable unused apps
  • Inspect physical ports (dust, debris)
  • Check pen tips — replace if worn
  • Test all casting methods (Android, iOS, Windows)
  • Log any recurring issues for follow-up
🌡️ Environmental Best Practices
  • Ventilation ClearanceMaintain at least 10cm clearance around all sides of the board. Do not mount in enclosed cabinets without ventilation.
  • Avoid Direct SunlightStrong sunlight on the panel causes overheating and affects touch sensitivity. Use blinds if needed.
  • AC TemperatureOperate in 16–30°C environment. Overheating causes thermal throttling — the main hidden cause of lag in Singapore rooms.
  • Pen StorageStore pens in the pen tray when not in use. Do not leave pens with tips on the screen (activates touch continuously).
  • Screen CleaningUse only a dry or slightly damp microfibre cloth. No alcohol-based sprays — they damage the anti-glare coating over time.
